Breakouts on the body often appear where skin meets sweat, friction and tight clothing. Like facial acne, they relate to oil, shedding skin cells and clogged follicles. Understanding your triggers is the first step towards a routine that suits you.
Keratosis pilaris
Small, rough bumps
Often called KP, these tiny bumps usually sit on the upper arms, thighs or back. They form when keratin, a protein in skin, builds up around hair follicles. KP is very common and harmless, though it can be persistent.
Uneven skin tone
Pigmentation and patches
Areas that look darker or lighter than the skin around them can follow sun exposure, past breakouts, friction or shaving. Tone changes gradually, so a consistent routine and daily sun protection matter more than intensity.
Dryness & dehydration
Tightness and roughness
Dryness is a shortage of oil; dehydration is a shortage of water. Either can leave skin feeling tight, flaky or dull, especially after long hot showers, air conditioning or seasonal change.

The outermost layer of skin holds moisture in and keeps irritants out. Harsh or frequent cleansing can disturb it, which is why what you wash with every day deserves as much thought as what you apply after.
